Toast Masters Meeting

Being the Table Topic Master

On the 6th of April 2011 which was a Wednesday we had our Toastmaster meeting after a gap of two weeks. I decided to be the table topic master where you have to ask all the members of the club and all guests present random questions which need to be answered by everyone as their name is called out. The members and guests have to speak on the topic for a maximum of 2 minutes.

Theme of meeting

I have been the table topic master previously and enjoy asking different types of questions. We do have a theme for the meeting and the table topic questions are based on that. This time round the President of the Toastmaster’s Club asked me to select a theme for the meeting. I decided to go for Enjoy Life.

General questions on life

My questions were simple and mostly to do with the pleasures of life. It is important to keep the table topic questions simple and short according to the manual of the Toastmaster, enabling the members to talk on the topic without much problem. I started the questions by asking a few on the event which has kept all of us engrossed and totally focused on it. I am talking about the World Cup of cricket.

World Cup mania

The India Pakistan match was seen by everyone and I made sure to have a question on the match. After some questions on the World Cup, I decided to change the flavor of questions to something regarding the theme of the meeting. My questions were on different ways of enjoying life including friends, movies, having a role model, spending free time and the turning point in your life.

Getting Appreciation from Members

The questions were enjoyed by the members and after the meeting I was applauded by them. After the meeting a few of the members came up to me and really encouraged me and appreciated my questions. The President of The Toastmasters Club who is a very dear friend of mine and has always admires me a lot. He was telling some of the new comers about me being one of the favorite members of the club.

Pivotal Change in Life

This is why I always love going to the Toastmasters Meetings. The warmth and the encouragement I get from the other members really make’s my day. They appreciate the fact that I am the only one on a wheelchair and they appreciate the effort I make in coming. The senior members always encourage me to give me more speeches. The Toastmasters has a great significance in my life as it is helped me to improve my public speaking to a great extent. I always look forward to coming to the Toastmasters and learning something new. The Toastmasters Club has changed my life for the better.
